Sometimes it's difficult to see changes and growth on a daily basis, but looking back at the past year provides us with the perspective to be proud of our accomplishments! In 2022, we started the year strong with early spring high tunnel crops, and continued improving our seed starting plans and techniques. As the snow receded, we got to work on installing a French drain to divert seasonally high groundwater away from our gardens, reducing soil saturation and the risk of denitrification. We added a new member to our family in April, and started settling into new routines of caring for our three kids while balancing off-farm work and weekly farm tasks. Despite this big change, we attended more farmers markets and experienced record sales. We are so grateful for the support from our community to run this small farm! We also expanded our offerings at the Cabot Harvest Hub, an online farmers market, and made progress on getting our newly built farmstand into working order. We added windows and doors, installed electricity, and made progress on the interior. We hope to open the farmstand this coming year for vegetable sales and pickups. This fall and winter, we had an excellent crop of winter-hardy plants in our high tunnel. We are noticing the difference it makes to stay on top of pet scouting in the high tunnel to keep our crops healthy. Looking ahead, we are excited to start planning for farmers markets, local sales, and possibly a CSA share! Stay tuned for more details, and contact us if you are interested in learning more. As always, thank you for your support!
